The Shopfront Business Grants Program is a competitive funding program providing financial support for small businesses who are planning to lease and activate commercial shopfronts within the City of Melbourne municipality. The initiative aims to reduce shopfront vacancy rates, strengthen the local economy, and create vibrant, engaging, and innovative streetscapes that attract and benefit both residents, workers and visitors.
The program will operate on an ongoing basis with applications accepted year-round until funding is exhausted.
The funding must be used to execute high-quality retail, hospitality, or creative space fit outs that enhance the surrounding precinct, drive foot traffic, and deliver a greater localised economic impact for the city.

The City of Melbourne boundaries
The municipality's geographic footprint encompasses Docklands, East Melbourne, Fishermans Bend, Jolimont, Kensington, North Melbourne, Melbourne’s central business district, Parkville, South Wharf, West Melbourne and areas of Carlton, Carlton North, Flemington, Port Melbourne, South Yarra and Southbank.
IMPORTANT NOTE: It does NOT cover the Melbourne metropolitan area. If in doubt please refer to our interactive map.
