City of Melbourne invites applicants to apply for a matched-funding grant from the Urban Forest Fund. The Urban Forest Fund provides financial support to new greening projects within The City of Melbourne. In 2026, we are offering matched-funding grants under two streams.
This is the application form for stream 1 - high-impact greening.
The application should take approximately 1 to 2 hours to complete. The first section of the form relates to eligibility, followed by questions to help us score your project against other applications, and finally you will have the opportunity to upload supporting information and documentation.

- Applications open Monday 19 January 2026 (5.00 pm)
- Applications close Monday 20th April 2026 (5.00 pm)
- Matched-funding grant amount: Between $30,000 to $100,000.
Deadlines
Applications must be submitted no later than 5.00pm on Monday 20 April 2026. The online application system (SmartyGrants) will close at this time, preventing late submissions. To ensure fairness for all applicants, no extensions will be granted beyond this time. We strongly encourage you to submit your application well before the cut off time to allow extra time for any submission complications.
Please note that late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.
